What is Corrective Camouflage ?

Corrective camouflage tattooing is a procedure where we match the pigment to your skin tone,  then implant the colour  in the scarred  area ..

This treatment is suitable for people who have medium to dark skin tones with white scars, depending on the area of concern most scars can be treated, also used to camouflaging facelift scars, surgical scars or white spots due to sun damage.

The colour will look darker for the first 5 days then it will settle by 40%.  Aftercare instructions will be given on the day, a perfection visit is needed after 4 weeks for a small fee.

Did you know we can also rebuild uneven lips due to scarring, having a cancer spot treated or you may have cold sore scarring which in turn can leave your lips uneven shape, we can rebuild a natural colour creating a more even lip.

Can I have my scar Camouflaged by tattooing?

Whether you are a suitable candidate for treatment depends on your skin type, colour and age of the scar, as well as if you have any skin medical conditions.

For Camouflage using skin tone tattoo ink, the scar or stretch marks need to be lighter than the surround skin.

Stretch Marks or Scars cannot be dark or red. If the scar is too dark than the surrounding skin then this treatment is not suitable, the best treatment would be Derma-pen with a lightening serum, this will gradually soften and lighten the scar tissue. Red Stretch marks is an indication that the skin hasn’t finished healing yet, so you will need to leave it alone until they become white. If they are stay red after 2 years, then you can have dry needling with a lighten serum to  heal them.

If you have stretch marks, you may not necessarily need to use tattoo ink, some clients have skin stretch marks similar colour to their natural skin tone, Camouflage tattooing  is not suitable. The Stretch marks are only visible because the scarred skin is slightly lower than the normal skin. In this case we would perform dry MCA needling.

See information on MCA

Please note that stretch mark ink camouflage and micro needling/ MCA dry Needling tattoo are 2 different treatments which require different techniques and different needles.

How does the procedure work?

Skin tone ink is mixed to match the clients skin tone, because our skin colour changes from season to season the ink may have a slight variation in tone. A patch test is performed on the site to see how well the ink takes. you will need to wait 2 weeks to see the true result if the colour is satisfactory then the full session will be completed.

How many treatments will I need?

This is a hard question as it does depend on how much  colour you retain in the first few weeks but normally 2 to 3 treatments. You will need to top up the colour every few years.
